I am having a network slowdown problem.

I have a new KR2 with the new firmware. I love this router!

My Verizon NationalAccess - BroadBandAccess is provided by a PC5750 PC card. I am on the "unlimited" (but limited) data plan, which gets me 5GB per month, and then charge-free throttling after that.

While I have never been able to get but a fraction of the advertised rates, lately, the speed has gone WAY down. It is now much slower than dial-up. It is not usable at this speed.

Here's the kicker, and why I am posting here: This latest slowdown only happens when I have the PC5750 in the KR2. If I go back to putting it in my computer and using VZAccessManager software, I get the "normal" slow throughput, not the "really really" slow throughput.

Does anyone know what might be causing the data to get really slowed down in the KR2? I don't seem to have any access restrictions. I can go anywhere. And the local wireless and wired networks are humming along just fine.

I have not received any notifications from Verizon other than the usual ones about how they are changing their service for the worse.

Thanks in advance for you input, everybody. I am an old data network tech. And this one has me stumped.

. . . I have learned that the slowness has something to do with using either access control or traffic shaping, or some related feature of the KR2 router.

In an attempt to get control of my household's usage (because of the 5GB limitation), I had turned on traffic shaping in the KR2. So, I decided to turn off all the "special stuff" in the router. (Stuff that makes the KR2 truely unique in the mass marketplace.)

Since I have turned off these things, "normalcy" has returned. That is, it appears that I am getting my full throttled rate. I really feel that the traffic shaping feature is where I ran into the trouble.

I'll create another thread where we can talk about traffic shaping. I have some questions, and, when I am back in front of my KR2, I will be able to accurately word them.

Thanks,
Dan
