This probably a dumb noob question, and I did a search to save myself the embarrassment but didn't see the answer. But, does the data use that sprint is capping count for uploads as well?

very little is known for sure. 'enforcement' seems to be selective.

very likely that any limits are based on downloads and uploads.

I'm a Verizon customer and both the Upstream and Downstream count towards the 5GB cap. I would assume Sprint will also charge it by both up/down.

Yes. both directions. This also includes keep alive pings. I got booted by Verizon 15 months ago. If Sprint boots me for using too much of my "unlimited" bandwidth, I will sign on to that class-action suit like I did with the one for Verizon and then switch to Alltell. Cell service is the only method I have for doing work from home. Can't do it with dial-up or satellite. I have addressed this issue with my Congressman and suggest you do the same.

Can you tell me about the Verizon class action suit because I got screwed over by Verizon a few years ago too. I haven't forgotten it.
