I just wonder when Sprint will decide to establish a CAP. I have to use VZW because Sprint's signal is iffy in my neighborhood and when I tried them it was good some days and not so good other days. I am in a rural area with no DSL or cable and had WildBlue when they lowered their CAP and reduced capacity. I hope all those jumping to Sprint from VZW don't get burned later. |

I sure wish I knew who dreamed up this 5 Gig crapola, I would love to hang him upside down naked in the town square and shoot him like Mussolini. Aside from the fact that it's about the capacity of one standard DVD, I don't know what's so special about it.
Although in Europe I've heard "fair use" limits are less, around 3 Gig I think. (Whateer they define fair use to be).
But I think, due to so much churn, it will be a while before Sprint tries something like that, as "unlimited data" is a "feature" they can compete on for customers. Another thing Sprint has in their favor is that all of their towers are PCS (1900 MHz) so they have more capacity per tower than VZW or AT&T would with 850 MHz towers, though they would have to have a higher tower density to make up for range.
And of course, there is the oft-promised, though ever-receding nebulous WiMax....Nirvana in the Cloud for everyone |

Well I was at Best Buy the other night when a very irate verizon customer came in. either he didn't get the letter or didn't bother reading it because he had just short of $4000 charges on his bill and he demanded Best buy fix it. So, it is in effect. |

There is currently only ONE way to stay grandfathered in.
If you renew your contract, you will be converted over to the new existing plan (overage charges).
If you do a "new every two", you will be converted over to the new existing plan (overage charges).
The ONLY way NOT to get converted over, is do not touch your plan once it expires. If you want a new card, pay retail for it and do an ESN swap - that will keep your existing plan unchanged.
It is more expensive to go this route, but you will not have to worry about overage charges (which can be a LOT more expensive).
There are other tricks and tips that we are aware of, but cannot publish them online _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier

^^^
thats good to know, Im grandfathered in to the soft cap as I (just) made the deadline, and Id like to stay that way as long as I can.
most Ive hit yet is 3.8 gigs but I do a lot of my downloading of big stuff (game demos, .iso images, monthly video drivers etc) at the local library, I just bring a couple USB flash drives and go to town downloading as I already go there regularly for books and videos. helps keep my home usage down. |

Seems grossly unfair since he could get a second account for $59 to handle that 4 Gig overage. Hopefully such excess charges won't stand up in court.
Anyone remember the per minute charge for long distance phone calls now that we can call anywhere in the country for 'free' on our cell phones?
Seems more equitable that if there is a 5 Gig cap, the overcharges would be $59 or less for addtl 5 Gigs.
I would suggest that he change his ccard number... |

Michael, here's a question for you about this policy. If for instance I had a friend that signed up for his Verizon EVDO service in late 2006 and now decides that he no longer wants it, can he do a transfer of financial responsibility to someone else that wants the service but doesn't want to be involved with the new 5GB limitations? I thought Verizon might have some kind of limit placed on that to where if that happened you would be under the new TOS and pricing for overages. |

That's strange, when I did a NE2 on my voice line I was able to stay on the calling plan I've had since signing up, even though they have the new Nationals or whatever they are.
If you can't publish, can you PM? I have a 5750, which itself isn't really a bad card, and REV-A is REV-A is REV-A...it just doesn't work well with the KR-1. My choices are to either upgrade to a KR-2, a new card, or get cable. |
