The verizon software "estimate" is of course crap. But i was wondering, does verizon see exactly what the software says? like ive used 1.7g and the software says something around 600mb. Will verizon think ive only use 600mb.

My guess is that they know exactly how much ive used. They just give the estimate to rip people off.

I doubt it. On my account, my statement shows a much higher data usage than VZM. I've still never come close to 5G of data in 1 month so the limit seems high enough that I don't expect to incur any overage charges. I mainly use the aircard for internet access when traveling in my RV so my usage is not typical of someone who is using it as their only internet access.

The VZM software is no good for me anyway since I use my aircard with a router so that usage is never seen by the VZM.

strollin, What do you do in a full month to keep it from going over 5G of Data? As I just got mines and will like to know how to control my usage. And is this your normal way to the Internet or just for backup? Also how long did it take to see your first usage on the Verizon Wireless login page for your account?

Rickey318, I don't use the aircard everyday so my usage may not be typical. Even so, 5G works out to be around 167M a day for 30 days which seems like a lot to me but if you are straming video I could see where it would be limiting.

As far as how soon you can see your data usage, you should be able to access your account on-line and see what your usage is for the current biling period so far.

Go to verizonwireless.com/myaccount and set up a user name and password. Then you can log in any time to check your current amount of usage. I find that by the next morning my totals have been updated as of the previous evening.

As far as not going over 5 GB, as has been said, that depends a lot on your style of usage. I use the Internet mostly for information, news, mail, forums, and a little blogging and web page maintenance. After being on VZW EVDO for a couple of months it appears that I will be running less than 1.5 GB per month. Those who are doing more entertainment type activities will probably run higher than that.

Yes, after waiting three days it started showing up. But Tell me if I'm right.Verizon Wireless site has said I've used 3.65 MB but the VZAccess Manager says I only used 875.4 KB. Now I don't know if I have read this right but is Verizon Wireless site saying I used more then VZAccess is saying? Like is there I good site I can use to convert this from KB to MB?

i have 2 third party programs that say ive used around 2.1gb while verizon manager says ive got about 600mb and the usage says ive only used 500mb....i asked verizon whats up and the lady told me that the software is an "estimate" which i assume is a scam to get people to go over they're limit. I suggest downloading BitMeter

If you hover you mouse over the KB reading on the VerizonWireless uage page, it will convert to MB or GB. Or you can take the KB number and divide by 1024, as there are 1024 KB in a MB.

Ok thanks, JGriggs. That sound about right. Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
