I installed Bytemobile with SCM1.x23 and keep it in the Automatic & Original setting in Tools>Optimization, which should cause no image degradation. Yet the speedtest results below from DSLreports.com indicate reduced uplad speeds and the results on DSLreports stated "Warning: ISP upload compression was detected. Your upload speeds may be inaccurate."

Are others who installed Bytemobile experiencing the same reduction and warning?

Speed Test #44809875 by dslreports.com
Run: 2008-01-29 00:30:24 EST
Download: 1301 (Kbps)
Upload: 141 (Kbps)
In kilobytes per second: 158.8 down 17.2 up
Boost: 1301
Latency: 141 ms
User's DNS: spcsdns.net
Compared to the average of 370 tests from spcsdns.net:
* download is 57% better, upload is 53% worse
I have had Sprint EVDO working for about 6 months with no problems, very few dropped connections, etc. Now 2 updates in a period or time, and connectivity is extremely unreliable.

I have a 595U modem on a PC acting as an ICS gateway for my home network. No problems using 1.00.0069.

Now with same hardware and this new software, my SCM will drop the connection, show a 0 signal level and display the message that "No Modem Device Detected".

SO far the only fix for the condition I have found is rebooting the PC. Then it will work normally until it drops again, which could be a couple of days or 15 minutes.

I am working on trying to fall back to the old code, but when I try, the older SCM won't maintain a connection longer than 2-3 minutes, and then drops and then re-connects, and then repeats over and over. I am thinking new firmware was uploaded to the 595U modem and may be causing a compatibility issue.

I am back at 1.10.0023.0 for now so I can use the connection at all- but I am looking for a solution real soon, before the wife tosses me and the computers out.
Quick update - looking around other EVDO boards I came across a couple of reports of folks having similar problems. Many of them said the problems cleared up when they removed all the SCM and Sierra Wireless software off the machine and then installed from the actual 1.10.0023.0 file, since its a complete replacement and not just an upgrade or patch.
I just finished trying this - wait and see.

I just unplug the usb cable (595U) and stuff it back in and it finds it.

uhhh... I spoke too soon, now I'm getting the same. Let me how the uninstall/install works.

Not Working

Windows Vista Business (Beta SP 1)

Intstalled the update successfully, but had frequent line drops and hangs. Also had error message about corrupt file and backup being loaded. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same result. After the dropped connection, frequently can't find the device, even after stopping the app and/or removing the card. Requires a reboot and/or netsh windsock reset.

Also noted that on both the initial and the second install; you have to click on connect two times before it will connect, first click on connect does nothing.

How can I fix?

Installed SCM 1.10.0023.0 successfully, working well.

S595U / Windows XP / No ByteMobile

Only gripe I have is the same others have. I can't minimize to the system tray, and also, I can't disable the "Welcome to Sprint Mobile Broadband" splash screen when I connect.

I'm seeing EVDO Rev. A mostly - DL in the 350-700 range, UL from 70-100.
I've seen DL up to 1.7Mbps on occasion. Depends where I'm at.

I just installed the updated manager this morning. I use a Blackberry 8703e tethered to a laptop.

The connection manager kept insisting that I had an 'external connection' active, and refused to connect. I finally found a setting under 'connection maintenance' that allows it to connect through my Blackberry even if it thinks there's already another connection.

Not ideal, but it works. I can't imaging why it sees an 'external connection', when I have my wifi turned off and have no network cable plugged in...

Other than that, seems to work well.

ran speed test twice:

latency: 183, 115
Download speed: 1234, 847
Upload speed: 144, 124

I have the ByteMobile Optimization installed, but when I go to settings, optimization, it says it is in automatic mode, but then says that Acceleration is off, so not sure what it is doing.

I am unable to use the GPS device with 1.10.0023.0 on a Windows XP Tablet edition UMPC.

I am able to use the GPS using the old software. If I click on "test gps" I just get an hour glass that sits there. If I try to use it, it tells me to go outside.

Any suggestions?

When I downloaded this update, near or at the end of the installation, I suddenly got a blue screen with error msg's, memory dumping msg extera. I had to forced my laptop off (holding power button), rebooted , found out that the new SCM had seemed to install successfully anyway. I started it up. It found a rev 0 connection. I also got this request to update this PRL update for the Pantech PX-500, i click apply update. nothing really happend. I'm getting a fairly decent signal at 80% or -80 dbm's. But when I click connect I get a this error msg, "Error 692: there was a hardware failure in the modem(or other connecting device)." I tried getting back online by using the previous SCM but that SCM won't detect the PX-500 card now.

I tried gettign rid of the original SCM but that didn't do anything. I tried messing with some settings in the SCM but still the same error msg after clicking connect. Anyone have a clue as to whats my problem. I'm thinking px-500 firmware or something and maybe I shoulda updated the card but I really don't know. I just need to figure out how to get back online now.

Edit: I didn't download or install bytemobile either. Running XP on a Dell 6000 Inspiron.

Even after unistalling the new SCM, the previous SCM still doesn't work nor will it even detect my Pantech PX-500 card. I tried re-installing SCM 1.10.0023.0 and still get the 692 hardware failure mssg. My card works enough for the new SCM to give my good signal readings but no actual connection.I wonder if I have to reinstall the old scm from the cd and re-ativate my card.
