| I have just bought this router from 3Gstore. Installation went extremely smoothly. However, the router indicated the mobile network is SPRINT. And I have a verizon EVDO card. How could this be? Am I roaming? How do I configure the router to use Verizonwireless network? On my lap top with VZmanager I can connect to Verizon without problems. Please help. Thank you! |

No worries -- that's correct. The Linksys router was developed at the behest of Sprint and it's apparently hardcoded to say you're connected to Sprint even though you are actually connected to Verizon. The KPC650 card knows to connect to VZW and does. I'm on Alltel and use the Linksys router -- same thing here. |

Check out the "LinkSys 3G Router WRT54G3G-ST Compatible Cards" thread (second page). xplorer is using the Verizon PC5750 with the Linksys. |

Karlyn-
I'm using the WRT54G3G-ST router with a Sprint aircard (Pantech PX-500) but am trying to roam on Alltel. The combo works great at my home (where there is Sprint coverage) but I'd like to use the router away from home where there is only Alltel coverage. Sprint and Alltel have roaming agreements and the card plugged into a laptop works perfectly on Alltel's network but I'm having trouble getting the Linksys router to connect when there is Alltel only coverage.
My question is are you using an Alltel card or a Sprint card?
Anyone know how to force the Linksys router to look for other networks? Thanks in advance! |

I'm using an Alltel card -- the PC5750 which is nearly identical to your PX-500. I've not had any problems roaming on Sprint via the router.
You shouldn't have to change any settings on your router to roam on Alltel. FWIW, I'm still using the old 2.00.9 firmware on the router and, other than enabling security, the router settings are all still set to the defaults. At first I thought you might have the wrong PRL on your aircard but if it works okay in your laptop then that's not the problem.
One thought -- I always have a problem connecting with the router when the signal is weak even though I can still connect with the card in the laptop. Are you trying to roam in locations with a weak Alltel signal or where their service is only 1x (my router also doesn't like the 1x signal)?
Sorry I can't be of more help,
karlyn |

| Thanks karlyn. I know when I did my troubleshooting I had decent Alltel signal (3-4 bars, around -70dB) but I'm not sure if it was 1x or DO. I'll have to pay more attention next time I take the hardware out or go somewhere where I know there is EVDO only signal and see what happens. Thanks again, I'll post my results if I learn anything new. |
