T1- $1500 +/- depending on your area
EVDO- $59 depending on plan
Joe Schmoe trying to surf the web, do e-mail, and normal daily internet activities.
Joe Corporate trying to do IP Camera Video Streaming 24/7/365
Joe Schmoe can't bring up EVDO forums and draw the initial page for at least one minute since Joe Corporate just dumped their T1 lines and switched to an EVDO product to stream their video. Little Joe is dishing out $59 and "Big Joe" is saving about $1450 PER VIDEO CAMERA!! What is fair ?
I am not a big fan of throttle threats, that is one of the reasons that I did not go to WildBlue or Hughes but ALL CARRIERS do have a valid point. That single IP camera on a highway overpass can hurt the average home or business user, just like some teens and adults trying to file share DVD's and MP3's. Hughes will need to put more transponders up in the sky while Verizon, Sprint, and anyone else will need to put up more towers and feed more T1's into each busy site to keep up.
Dammed if you do and Dammed if you don't! If the carriers do not add more T1 spans and cell sites then speeds will stay slow for everyone in the area of those high bandwith hogs. Who is to blame the carrier or the abuser ? |

has anyone read this?? i did a couple of searches on this site and didnt see this mentioned... (http://b2b.vzw.com/broadband/coveragearea.html)
1BroadbandAccess speed claim based on our network tests with 5 MB FTP data files without compression. Actual speeds and coverage may vary. Rev. A capable device required for these speeds. With a non-Rev. A-capable device, expect typical download speeds of 400 – 700 Kbps and typical upload speeds of 60 – 80 Kbps. Actual speeds and coverage may vary. If usage exceeds 5 GB/line/month, we reserve the right to reduce throughput speeds to a maximum of approximately 200 Kbps.
why are they dropping peoples contracts in full rather than just throttling them back like they say on the website?? sorry if this has been covered and i missed it- i was just curious |

| nevermind. i guess i just havent perfected my search methods on this site. i now see that this has come up in about 700 posts. lol. i guess that all i can say is that i used to peak at 26,400 so being throttled to 200k still wouldnt make me cry. |

I was just looking at my usage from last month and noticed that my bill says Unlimited on my plan, and in the allowance box.

Does anyone know if their bills continued to say this all along, or if they've returned to calling it "Unlimited" now that they got in trouble with the state of NY?

You're not alone. My bill shows "Unlimited" as well. |
