|
|
I spend 5 months of the year in a signal challenged area in NE Ohio in a camping trailer . I have had reasonalbly good service with my Verizon PCMCIA V620, a KR1 router, an ARC Freedom antenna and an Inteligain signal amplifier using Verizon national access..... router, antenna and amplifier were all purchased as a result of advice from this website about three years ago
I also travel 6-8 weeks and would like to be able to access broadband where it exists and would like to upgrade service and am considering using it instead of my DSL in my home in Mission, Texas.
Are there newer cards which may be better for my needs? Will any newer
cards which will work with my KR1? Are USB type cards more powerful?Any suggestions I do not know of?

Nancy, you will want a newer "Rev-A" device to take full advantage of the faster speeds available on verizon broadband EVDO. Any of the USB modems will do that, but only the USB720 would work with your KR1.
I'd actually recommend you upgrade from the KR1 to any of the cradlepoint routers... they are superior in many many ways over KR1:

and work with all of verizon's USB modems.
USB isn't faster than PC card or expresscard, but not slower, either: http://www.EVDOinfo.com/faster
USB just makes the most sense, especially if its just going to sit attached to a router anyway.
you may also want to verify that the amplification gear you have is dual-band, because verizon uses both bands in various broadband locations across the USA. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas/Routers/Amps :: Verizon EVDO :: Sprint EVDO :: Why Buy from 3Gstore? |
