|
|
Hi,
Newbie here. I have an AT&T USBConnect 881 card for my laptop. I have no current ability now to download Tivo programming data with either a phone or wireless network. Has anyone here used any type of Evdo router to successfully communicate wirelessly to their Tivo using their wireless pc card?
Tivo tells me that Tivo runs on a different frequency than my USBConnect 881 card, so it can communicate directly. Sierra Wireless forwarded me here to learn more about Evdo cards.
Thanks so much!

Any of the CradlePoint routers with an available ethernet port will be compatible with the Tivo. I personally don't have a Tivo, but have heard of many people having success with the CradlePoint routers. The Tivo just needs to simply connect to a [LAN] ethernet port on the router.
Note: The PHS300 is the only current model of CradlePoint router that does not have any ethernet connectivity. |

I have Tivo and with any of the CradlePoint routers it can work.
You can use Ethernet to connect your Tivo to the CradlePoint.
If you have a Wireless Adapter for your Tivo you can connect to the router wirelessly (no need for Ethernet). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| Goodness, I thought I'd have to pay for a home phone line just for my Tivo. Thank you both for setting my mind at ease! |

Hi again,
I was just about to purchase a CradlePoint CTR350 when I came across two versions of it, and I'm not sure which one would work best.
The CradlePoint CTR-350 EVDO / HSDPA Router says this: "Ships with latest firmware on CD to enable 'ethernet as LAN'. more info: EVDOinfo.com PLEASE NOTE - WiFI on your computer is NECESSARY to perform the upgrade to support Ethernet. If you do not have WiFi, you need to purchase the CTR350 that already has the 2.0 firmware installed.
Now compatible with HSDPA and EVDO devices."
Now, my laptop of course has wifi capability. But since I have a AT&T USBConnect 881 card, I no longer use wifi; I use 3G GSM to connect to the Internet on my laptop.
My question: do I have to have the version with the firmware already installed? Or maybe I can just go to a coffeeshop with good wifi and set this all up there ...?
Thank you again! |

We include a CD with the recent firmware (and all past ones), along with a bunch of PDFs that we created, that comes with your purchase. So, you can easily do the firmware upgrade yourself, just follow these steps:
How Do I Upgrade My Firmware?
1. Insert CD.
2. Connect to the router with Wi-Fi or Ethernet
3. Go to your device's login page (http://192.168.0.1).
4. Select the 'Tools' tab on the top, then the 'Firmware' menu on the left.
5. In the 'Firmware Upgrade' section, click 'Browse'
6. Browse for the downloaded file then click 'Open'
7. Click the upload button
8. Do not turn off or unplug the device while it is upgrading
9. The upgrading process should take a few minutes _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Ugh,
I bought a Cradlepoint router to use with my AT&T USBConnect Sierra Wireless air card so that they can communicate properly with the Tivo-brand wireless adapter connected to my Tivo.
My Tivo doesn't have an ethernet port (series 2), so I have to do this wirelessly somehow. I've set up my router/aircard system so that my Internet works fine on my HP laptop.
All the TCP and UDP ports that Tivo requires be opened are already listed as exceptions (opened) in my Windows Firewall.
Right now Tivo sees my SSID, but after I click on that, my Tivo gives me a N13 (temporary) "Tivo service is not answering" error message. The Tivo tech I just talked to had never heard of anyone connecting to Tivo with an aircard and cradlepoint router, so he was no help. For those of you who have gotten this to work, can you let me know the magic word, so I can start using my Tivo again? *sniffles*
I'm assuming that somehow the configuration is wrong either in my Aircard, Tivo, or router settings. I just don't know enough about networking to figure it out. This is all way over my head.
Please help!!

I bought the cradlepoint 1000 and I am trying to get it to work with my Tivo. I cobtinue getting the N13 problem. I'm guessing I need to open the firewall ports on the cradlpoint but have no idea how. If anyone knows please help. I am going to try and call customer support in the morning. _________________ Capt. I called cradlepoint and was able to figure it out. You have to make sure that in the Basic tab in the wireless section you do not have it requiring user log in. Then in the advanced/ special applications tab you put in the ports that you must have opened for tivo. It only accepts 6 at a time so you should seperate the ports in groups of 6. These are the ports you need to open:
TCP port 37TCP port 443TCP port 2190TCP port 4430TCP port 7287TCP port 7288TCP port 8000TCP ports 8080-8089TCP port 8101TCP port 8102TCP port 8200UDP port 123UDP port 2190
good luck! _________________ Capt. Y2V |

| How exactly did you set up the advanced/spcial applications tab? I think I have set it up correctly however I am still unable to connect my tivo. I keep getting the N02 error. I see that tivo is connected to the router though. Any thoughts? |
