What does this mean?
"Alltel has improved your wireless internet services, giving you the ability to surf the web up to five times faster. To begin experiecing increased speed on the Alltel network, current users of Alltel Internet Accelerator should uninstall this software by September 2, 2008."
Is this my Rev A upgrade I have been praying for or some other BS thats not really going to help? |

No, the Internet Accelerator was just extra optional software you can install.
It's generally a poor workaround for slower speeds including things like lowering picture quality and such. I never used it. |

Seems like a Rev A thing coming to your area.
Kinda funny how they tell customers to uninstall there software. |

I got the same letter a while ago also. I'm not sure about you but I think I'm getting RevO instead of RevA. Since July I've been getting glimpses of a DO on my QLM. They must have been testing. Still "O" is way better than 1X so I'm happy. Maybe you'll get RevA, good luck!

| I am a little worried now. I found out that the tower I take service from is connected to the network by only one T1. I think a T1 max out at 1.5mbps. Even if i get Rev A will the max download speed be 1.5mbps due to the tower? I think i would pay $100 to spend 30min with a Alltel tech who knows what the hell is going on. Its just so inconsistent. Great one day sux the next. |

Yea, max a single T1 line can carry would be 1.5mbps but I think they would upgrade that when they upgrade it to Rev 0.
Also just wondering how did you figure out how many T1 lines your tower has? I am kinda interested in more info on the tower I use but not able to find it. |

| One day my speed was running about 1.0mbps down then it just dropped to almost nothing. I still was at DO with an RSSI of -75. Later that evening on my way to work I passed by the tower and saw a AT&T truck there. I did not have much time but did talk enough to the tech to find out about the T1. He was very nice about it and offered a lot of information about what happens after the data leaves the tower. It was kind of funny, because I think he liked the idea that somebody was interested in his job. The problem with my tower was that a cell tech was in the control building at the tower and found a wasp nest. He sprayed it with a wasp killer and the liquid ran down into AT&T stuff and messed it up. |

| I believe it was sent out when they were still pushing everything through caching proxy, thus not needing Alltel internet accelerator installed. |

The point of the letter was to waste your time commenting about it on this forum, LOL.
Seriously, just ignore the letter. Doesn't mean anything.
The point of it is basically this: We're not supporting alltel accelerator anymore. Delete it. |

My proxy disappeared a few days ago. I never installed the accelerator part. I was getting glimpses of DO on my QLM since maybe July and hoped after receiving that letter I was going to step up from 1X service. Since the letter said by Sept 2nd to uninstall we'll find out tomorrow if DO appears for good. I'll be disappointed if that's all the letter meant, especially since I've seen Alltel service trucks running around periodically getting my hopes up!!!
