Well... unless there is more to quote (than you did) that would shed a different light on this....
It appears that you misread the sentence you quoted. It says when YOU send email TO GOOGLE, that they may keep those emails to serve you.

I didn't misread anything.

Does anybody know if they will be keeping their SMTP server up for outgoing mail?
I know, some email providers like Yahoo ($ for this feature) and Google will allow authenticated SMTP connections, but some may not.
I can run postfix on Linux and send my own mail, but that doesn't always work either - some systems won't accept mail if the IP address won't resolve to the domain name you are using. _________________ 15 char. limit? |

| It appears that Sprint has shut down some of their SMTP service already. I used to use NotePager Pro to send pages to Sprint phones using xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com. As of last week that stopped working. Anyone have a work around? |

This really sucks.
In your honest opinion, do you think there's a chance Sprint will cut off EVDO broadband cellular service entirely, given all these recent changes? |

Is there any evidence that this is or has been interpreted as all email? The way I'd parse it is that mail sent to Google may be archived. This would seem to me to be rather like the (audio) phone call "...your call may be recorded to ensure quality..." I hear from other types of service providers.
