|
|
Hello,
This is an e-mail I sent to Cradlepoint Support. If anyone has any info, please let me know. If anyone is having similar issues, please contact Cradlepoint so they can get this sorted out!
| Code: |
I have two CTR350 routers and a Sprint U727 USB Modem.
I am in an area with 100% EVDOrA coverage.
When using the U727 with a CTR350, after downloading at high speeds for anywhere between 1 minute and 3 hours, Internet will just go disappear.
If I go to the Admin page and login, and click Disconnect to re-connect, sometimes the Disconnect works properly and I can then press Connect. However, most times, the router freezes up and WLAN drops and I have to power cycle the router.
I've been fiddling with settings, but most recently, the problem exists without changing ANY of the default settings in the CTR350.
I'm pretty convinced this is an issue with the CTR350 crapping out, and not my Sprint connection. If I dial-up with Sprint SmartView and the U727 inserted into either my laptop or desktop PC, my connection lasts DAYS without disconnecting. I didn't have hardly as many issues with previous firmware versions, although I can't remember which version has been most successful.
The behavior is the same with either CTR350. And for what its worth, I am on my 2nd U727 and there is no difference.
I've also traveled extensively around NJ/DE/PA/MD with this setup and it doesn't matter what kind of signal strength I have or where I am. After time, Internet just disappears.
Please advise!

| What firmware are you running on the CTR350? |

| Oh, I should have mentioned. It was a drop down box on the Support page. I have 2.2.1. I believe the same things happened with 2.2.0. |

| Since the U727 was supported on the 2.1 release you may want to try downgrading to 2.1 and verifying if the issue existed on that release. |

| What was the first version that 3GStore had exclusively that enabled Ethernet-As-LAN functionality? That was the first version CTR350 release I used. The problem with that version was that Internet would disappear on the Ethernet port, but not wireless. |

I found it.. it was 1.7.3. I'll try 2.2.0 again soon... but I'd really like a fix instead of working backwards!
It would be nice if the CTR350 could randomly ping something and if it times out or notices the connection drops, that it just redials.
But this problem seems to be more than that. Internet disappears and then locks up when trying to redial the connection. |

I would try 2.1 rather than 2.2.0. Since 2.2.1 was a point release it was VERY similar to the 2.2.0 release.

I'm not suggesting that 2.1 is the long-term answer. It will just narrow down if it is a firmware issue with the latest release or something in your environment that is unique. Will help focus Cradlepoint support in the correct area. |

| Call or e-mail CradlePoint support so they can collect your information. They usually ask for log information on this to see what the router is doing and diagnose the problem. |

The text from my original post is the e-mail I sent Cradlepoint...
I'm just waiting patiently at this point. |

I'm having the same problem on my CTR350/U727 combo. (2.2.1 firmware) I am also amplifying the signal with an RF Booster. Mine will run for a day or two and then crap out (longer than you mentioned) but I have mine hooked up to a camera that takes an image every now and then- Fairly predictable load.- Power cycle and up we go again for another day or two.
I have an email into Cradlepoint support now. Since it has been 15 days since you first posted, have found a solution?
A workaround could be a timer that cycles the power- I don't like work arounds but it is better than loosing the connection. |

| Same problem here (no booster). CradePoint support suggested turning off traffic shaping (in the Advanced tab), which I'm trying, but it hasn't been long enough to know whether it's a solution. |

Hi,
I am on my 3rd replacement router. They have all done same thing, but I seem to have best results in Internet explorer instead of FireFox. The other problems I have are temperatures over 140, loosing connection to the router randomly and also loosing connection to the usb port on the router. Like I said this is my 3rd router, CradlePoint said the problems are related to the heat and have had this problem alot. My problem is, I had to pay for shipping all times and it once took over two weeks to get the replacement router. Now my warranty is almost over and they have no resolution for the problem.
good luck with yours, btw i am using a cdu680 modem. |

My router hung again with traffic shaping disabled, so that's not the problem. And it's v. cool here (California coast).
The router in question was my second. The first refused to take a firmware update, but otherwise worked OK (no hangs), so I'm fairly sure it's the router and not the modem, a Novatel U727. CradlePoint did give me an advance replacement, so I've still got the (working) original one, and have send back #2 for a third one.
I suppose it could be a firmware issue. FWIW, the original had 2.0.1, and still does, because it can't seem to update itself. The failing one had current firmware, which IIRC is 2.2.1. |

i had this problem with all versions of the firmware, Cradlepoint is aware of the problem but doesnt have an answer. I would actually take a refund if they offered and buy another product. |
