I racked up 9 gigs according to my account management page on Sprints' site. This 5 gig limit is terrible news for me as I download and upload photoshop art every day.

I started a 2 year contract with them in early 2007, is it in my right to cancel now and avoid a termination fee? or should I keep abusing the 5gb limit so they can terminate me? And if that happens would I have to pay a termination fee then?

thanks in advance,

Yes, you can cancel, but be forwarned that many of the Sprint customer service reps try to charge you an early Termination Fee of $150 for cancelling. You need to insist that they cannot. Read this thread for clarification.

No one really knows how strict Sprint will be in enforcing the 5 GB limit yet. To early to tell. There is a whole separate forum for this issue, http://www.evdoforums.com/viewforum.php?f=27 . Continue further questions there.

For now Sprint may terminate you but it is safe to assume that Sprint will start charging overage fee $$$ per megabyte like VZW.

Just done with a sprint tech. They said I had a 60 day window to terminate my account without being penalized from when they made the contract change. To my knowledge, I was never informed, if they did they must've included it in some bullsh*t fine print within my electronic billing statements, which no one ever reads. All of my bills have auto-pay in it and every month I receive a statement notification. If they somehow snailed that 5 gig limit into one of those statements with tiny lettering, that's just a lowball move.

So nothing they could do except for me to deal with it. I told them it's poor business decisions and screwing loyal customers is the reason why they're in such financial turmoil. I really hope that company folds ass side up.

I'm going to eat the $150 termination fee and not deal with sprint ever again... I don't think it'll be long till no one will ever have to deal with them ever again.

I no longer have a mobile broadband option that fits my work/business. Thanks sprint for screwing customers out of their pre-bandwidth capped contract. At least honor those customers who signed up prior to the change.

to ebiz: I tried to make my case with them, but i kept getting the "we're sorry this has inconvenienced you" drone. I wish there was a way for me to fight this charge but, right now I'm just too tired to fight over $150. I don't feel like being put on hold for another hour.

Sprint won today, I lost... but sprint will eventually lose the overall battle with pissed off customers and people making the switch to iPhones.
